The game's concept art and the gameplay trailer depict the surface of the game's world as a rocky area surrounded by canyon walls and an orange sky. Scattered about are the decaying corpses of creatures found in the game and the red biological mass they produce as well as scattered artificial structures.
There seems to be two types of structures. The are hollowed out tombstone shaped monoliths that at their base have openings into underground facilities. The second are much larger cylindrical towers of an unknown purpose.
